1. Co-wash every 2 to 3 days with Joico Intense Hydrating or Moisturizing Treatment (wash with Joico Volissimsa shampoo once a week only!)
2. Spray Infusium 23 on semi-damp hair. Let dry 10-15 minutes.
3. Add Joico leave-in protectant foam. Let dry 5-10 minutes.*
4. Add Joico Creme elixir.** A little goes a long way! Add to roots, and work in to the ends.
*This step sometimes omitted if I'm rushing!
**An alternative: Use Iso Bouncy Creme in place of Joico Creme Elixir. Hair isn't as silky, but it's fuller and softer.
5. Scrunch and blow-dry for a fuller head of hair (for dancing only!), or
6. Air dry for natural curls.
Lately, I have been seeing my hair dresser for my straight styles. When I get it done, I try to keep it in for a week. She charges me $40 to $45 for a flat-iron and style. Have not seen the flat iron since May 24, 2007 on my b-day.
Plan: Flat iron October 5, 2007 for a good trim, touch up on layers, and preparing myself for braids the following week!
November:
1st week: When I get my braids in, the first thing I do is Spray my scalp with the braid spray to kinda loosen the braids. I don't spray the length of the braids with anything.
2nd week: Cleans scalp with Dry shampoo (see my products); Spray scalp and length of braids with Infusium 23; After finished, spray scalp only with braid spray.
***I NEVER LET WATER RUN DOWN MY HAIR/BRAIDS, NOR DO I SCRUB/RUB THE SCALP UNLESS I AM WIPING AWAY THE DRY SHAMPOO***
3rd week: Same steps as 2nd week.
4th week: Same steps as 2nd week.
5th week: Probably get the back/bottom rows touched up.
6th week: Getthing the middle of my braids touched up.
7th week: Getting the front of my braids touched up.
9th/10th week: Touch ups again, see 5th week through 7th week.
13th/14th week: at the end of this week, i will be taking my braids down completely.
**ROBIN (www.growafrohairlong.com) RECCOMENDS KEEPING EXTENSIONS IN FOR NO LONGER THAN 2 MONTHS AT A TIME, BUT I KNOW MY HAIR CAN WITHSTAND FOR 3 MONTHS. I DON'T HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY EDGES GOING THIN, OR HAIR BREAKING, SO THAT IS WHY I CHOOSE TO KEEP THEM IN**
After Thanksgiving 2006, a horrible tragedy occured: After having my hair flat-ironed, there were several sections that refused to curl back up. They are mostly in the nape area, and near my ears. The hair is "Wavy/curly." The ends curl up, but the length of the hair is like a wave. I'd classify this "new" texture as 3a/3b. I am not excited about this. I have done endless conditioning, and it still remains the same. I will have to see if the ends split, but for now, they look really good.
Just helping myself keep track of my treatments so I can later track improvements in my hair
OK, So I am 2 months past the TRAGEDY, and my hair is shaping up a bit. I just flat-ironed, so I will follow up with an Aphogee treatment sometime at the end of February. My last flat-iron was February 16th. I want to test if it's truly the fact I am flat ironing too often that causes the breakage/uncurling of my hair!
Well, despite all the heat I have put on my hair from the end of January through February (a total of 2 times in the shop for a flat-iron, and almost DAILY touch-ups, YIKES.), I think my hair is OK. This will NOT continue throughout March. I am hoping to get my hair braided by the end of March, so we shall see.
As far as trims, I had one @ the end of February. The layers were not cut, only the "length." I didn't like how this shop did it, so after I get my braids and remove them, I will get a fresh hair cut from Carol.
Happy Anniversary to me! Officially March 10, 2007!!
Goals for this month:
1. Use least amount of product as possible by trying to alternate/modify use of the products I already own.
2. Get my hair braided (eventually!)
3. Post pics of my hunny buns when his hair gets twisted
4. Post pics of my new doggie-woggie! His name is Inky!
Flat iron on 3/30/07. Another flat-iron on 4/7/07. No more heat till May!
Not much to record here...I been lazy.
So I got my weave on 06/07/07. I looove it!!! The braids are hecka tight underneath though.
hm...so I have been a little MIA. So here's the scoop:
July continues my 2nd month of absolutely no (direct) heat on my hair. See styles in my July 2007 album.
August brought on a few roller sets, and mostly just my naural hair, and styles I did myself. This is the 3rd month of NO DIRECT HEAT.
September (present): 1st magnetic rollerset gone bad. MAN. Check the photos out, Aug. 2007 album. How did this happen? Click to seewhat I did to my hair up until the nite my mom roller set it.
Stuff goin on with me this month: not too much, since I am wearing a weave. Weave tightened 1st week November?
