Why I Haven't Uploaded

It's been a while since I uploaded much of anything decent. the reason? My good camera crapped. Big time.

So, I got a little point & shoot Canon. Pfft. Nothing wrong with them if all you're gonna do is take a few shots of the family picnic once in a while, but as an accidental photographer that really enjoys taking pics, it wasn't for me.

Then THAT camera crapped out. Lost all ability to produce decent color. I had to manipulate them beyond belief to remotely resemble what I took in the first place. Not good for someone who sells jewelry and beads online.

Last week I had to break down and order a new camera. It had to be better than the Canon, but I couldn't afford what I really wanted - A Nikon D3000. With lens kit. Wasn't gonna happen, so I ordered a more modest & definitely more affordable one. A Kodak Z915. Still a cheapie, but at least the color is truer than the Canon. It's a 10mp, 10x optical zoom. At least it's in the range of what I need.

Someday I'll afford that Nikon, but until then, the Kodak will have to do.

Things I've Learned...

I've learned that you cannot make someone
love you. All you can do is stalk them and hope
they panic and give in.

I've learned that no matter how much I care,
some people are just assholes.

I've learned that it takes years to
build up trust, and it only takes
suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.

I've learned that you can get by
on charm for about fifteen minutes.
After that, you'd better have a big willy
or huge boobs.

I've learned that you shouldn't
compare yourself to others - they are
more screwed up than you think.

I've learned that you can keep vomiting
long after you think you're finished.

I've learned that we are responsible
for what we do, unless we are celebrities.

I've learned that regardless of how
hot and steamy the relationship is at first,
the passion fades, and there had better
be alot of money to take it's place!

I've learned that 99% of the time when
something isn't working in your house, one
of your kids did it.

I've learned that the people you care most
about in life are taken from you too soon
and all the less important ones just never go away.

Pass this along to five friends...trust me,
They'll appreciate it. Who knows? Maybe
something good will happen.

If not, tough shit.

Hey, I like the number 69....

I knew I wouldn't win with so many gorgeous photos, but 69 is a GREAT number for me! I am glad just to be in the top 100 pics!
Hey, winning may be the goal, but the journey is the experience! I learn with each and every new photo I take, and all I can do is depend on everyone to help me out along the way!
All feedback, comments and criticism is appreciated and taken into consideration. I am just an amature trying to take the best pics I can with the camera I have. Even for those who said things that weren't so complimentary, I didn't take offense to it, I am learning from it. I got stars, i got votes, and I got a few great tips to help me out along my way.

Thanks everyone, I think I am doing great for what I do!

My photos

Well, I have been very sick the last few weeks. I popped back in here to add some photos from All Hallow's Eve, and I remembered the photo contest. I thought i would check up on my latest entry. Not that I expect to actually WIN one of these things, but it certainly is nice to see what people actually think of my work.
I am no professional photographer by any stretch of the imagination. I am blushing at all the nice comments I am getting from members. I am always on the look out for ways to improve my work.

Beautiful composition and clarity. Too bad for the coarse pixeling in the sky.

I didn't even notice the pixelling, but I see it now that you mention it.

I have only been taking decent photographs for a few years now. Prior to doing online autions, I never gave picture taking much of a thought. Good photographs became a must when I couldn't figure out why my items weren't selling. I joined a group for online selling, and learned SOOOOO much in such a short time that I thought my head would expode!

I didn't take any courses, but I did read up carefully with a few online tutorials. There is also a great show on DIY called Picture This. It helps every day people like me learn how to use their digital camera to it's full potential. I have a makeshift photo booth that I set up for all my product photography. I made use of other items that normally you wouldnt think of for use in photography, like white satin sleep caps for light diffusers. They don't burn like regular materials do and aren't as expensive as buying actual light diffusers.

I can certainly see the difference in my work as my experience grows. Sometimes, such as the case for my reflection entry, I am just at the right place at the right time. I basically held up my camera and snapped a few shots off. My 7 year old was standing there screaming at me that he was cold and wanted breakfast...lol. I went home that evening and kept the best three. My favorite, which is the one I entered, was the only one I took vertically.
