| | Za'Cie Designer Clutch Purses's Journals Recent Comments My mom is transitioning...She finally took out her kinky twists after having them in at least a good 2 months, if not longer. She pressed her hair. it was soft and bouncey and whatknot...friday I had did a twist out. it was nice! thick and lovely, I can really tell that my hair is growing, I was starting to think "what am I going to do with my hair?
my wash and go's do NOT work anymore. My puff, I feel is getting to big to just wear out to work...but my hair isn't long enough to two strand twist w/o extensions...anyway, When I got home moms hair was nice so i said, lets do mine... BIG MISTAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i must have sat down in that chair and momma started pressing my kinks, first my kinks didn't want to change they refused to take the heat... then she kept pressing that ONE spot over and over and over again...I had to say something... MA, please stop pressing that part, just go to the next part...
LONG STORY SHORT
I ended up with heat damaged hair... (tear) It wouldn't revert back to the texture that it was... I was devestated for about a week... on Halloween, me and my co-worker decided to be 70's Basketball players, I was going to fro the bush out...the back wouldn't fro right!!! the back would just flop down like it was sad and just depressed! ma kept telling me "just give it time, it will kink back up, just wash it" hello, I washed it 6 times already!!! the SHIT AIN'T GON KINK BACK OKAY!!! of course those weren't my words to her lol
I did what I had to do and cut my hair off...the straight ends that were damaged...theres a part about 2 inches wide and 2 inches tall on my lower back right side. theres a small piece I cut on the left side in the back, and small piece on both sides in the front...I'm sick to my stomach just thinking about how nice my hair was at first.... I almost did the drastic and put a texturizer on all of it...I didn't know any other way to correct it...but I pulled through that phase and ended up getting kinky twists to grow out my bald spots
Never again will I press my hair, my sister inlaw said I can try it again when My hair is longer... I was like "are you serious?? It damaged my 4 inch hair I'm not going to damage it again after growning it back out when its 6-12 inches...are you crazy!!!!??
I was really contiplating getting a relaxer or a texturizer but after going through this I really realized that I don't want my hair straight... its not attractive (on me, in my eyes) and its not fun to manage...I'm over the thought...
i should have come to you guys for support before I cut my damaged ends off...maybe there was a way to get it to come back to life but I was to hurt to even bring it up...
thanks for reading...guess i didn't make a long story short after all. Ha Ha Ha! I've had the opportunity to have my hair straightend, to me that gave me the chance to actually SEE where i am in my hair journey, I was able to SEE my true length, I was able to SEE the condition of my ends, it actually enlightened me in a wonderful way. I got a trim, I'm at a really great place to start a new mission with my hair. :-)
I kept my hair straight for a week and a half (if that). I'm really starting to baby my hair and really take my time detangling and moisturize moisturize MOISTURIZE! My hair is thursty!! its been thursty for a long while and I'm just now trying to listen to my hair and fully understand what she is asking for. No longer am I going to fight with my kinks and coils. We are a team and together we can take this natural thing to the next level!
My mission:
1. To maintain a nice balance of moisture and Protein in my hair. 2. To not go to bed without braiding/puffing or twisting my hair moisturized with a bonnett and silk pillowcase.
3. Protective styles on and off for the next 3 months 4. Maintain length and healthy ends!!!!!
5. and last but certainly not least; to LOVE my hair
Right now I have braids in my hair. I used "Claire" wet N wavy by Model Model, I really don't like this hair, therefore I'm not going to complete the micros. I'll just continue to wear it in a pony tail and keep the middle french braided down and not manipulate it until I remove the braids around the perimeter. There isn't a point in MICRO braiding all of my hair if I don't like the hair that i have to use.
I plan on keeping these end all through Sept. May take them out the end of sept or middle of Oct. My hair needs a break and some attention with from Moisturizer. I'm going to mix up a moisturizing spritz and spray it daily or bi-daily. wash once a week, do a leave in Deep conditioner once a week and keep it Rockin!!!
Will check back in, in NOV 2009 with updates on the condition of my ends, moisture/protein balance and length
