Yeah, number 1 is definitely the priority. They have such a good set up now in guest books, it's puzzling why they don't just duplicate the settings for guest books.
I guess they must have a lot of people making suggestions and maybe there is a lot effort in implementing some of them, I don't know. It's a great product, but it's the fact that they ARE willing to tweak it and listen to feedback from the end users that's made it so good I think.
I think the key issue is not to over react and lose the benefits of having your albums open. Like you say in point 2, we are in a public domain and all user groups have a share of dingalings.
It is puzzling, this crazy desire to have a complete stranger observe their wrinkly body, and posting links uninvited to their delusions, but then again, people can be funny cattle sometimes!
It is tempting to close off all access but then you lose the many benefits of having your albums open.
I agree with you about the delete key, that's the best answer I've found.
That's all true, if you have the time, you can even edit, i.e. comment on rude comments. But just don't worry, an obcenene comment will be recogniced as obcene or rude by most people, and so disqualify the commentor automatically.
Second chance: You can rule writing rigts in or out album by album, so if you have an album that is rude comments prone, you can restrict writing rights for that particular album.

Well, I'm curious. I have asked Fotki a number of times to pleeeeaaaaase set up a system to let us arrange our friends into categories. Hi Gary, Its a great idea to address these issues, although I have not thought through a better way to do it I think it could use some improvement...I would like to see a list of recently added friends in the last 30 days because I really do have so many people its hard to pick new ones out,,,I have a liberal attitude...if someone adds me I always add them back,.Thanks for wanting to check out the project...I am planning on taking what you say to heart, Erin has not told me what you do for a living but she has eluded to the fact that you are self made which I respect alot. I am still working on getting incorporated...I would have done it already but I skipped ahead to future forms like the letter of exemption for non-profits and discovered they are looking for specific statements in the article of incorporation( like attitudes toward the disabled etc) so It made me stop to insure I got everything right. This is a great idea. Defiantly helpful. Thanks for pointing this out to me Gary. Just an idea, but has anybody suggested putting together a message board for fotki members? A place where people can discuss various topics including but not limited to fotki operation, photo tips/hints, good travel photography spots and so on? I realize there are a lot of photography related message boards out there.. However, I find them intimidating. Just a thought. -Chel
I have asked them to find a way so that we can send out a notice to our friends that we have new images they might be interested in seeing.
Fotki support has not responded yet but I hope they create a function that will put all of the friends emails into one email that one can then go in and delete bad or inappropriate names.
The other option I can see is to create a list in the address book one by one but that is quite slow and a pain if you have 50 friends.

i had the same idea as DWP ...some kinda notice when friends have new stuff....but i wouldnt like to get email for every new pic... would be cool when the yellow "new" icon would appear next to "whats new" by the names in the friendslist...and this only for the most recent stuff..lets say one or two days..so that u dont load their page for nothing
hi gary ..if you are busy to take care of us anyway ....ask them to make an option that you can change the color of the backround for your pics ..like in blink or picturetrail ...

1.) would be great if fotki would print our pics as postcards.. so fotki and we can make a buck and we can create cool cards (xmas? new year?) to send them with real mail to our friends and relatives.
2.) i often notice that people have a hard time to make suggestions or critic to photos which actually, if it is constructive, is a good way to learn and improve ur pics... others dont wanna tell all their little tricks to the public but would like to share them with friends. however ..it would be cool when comments to photos could be also made private like it already is possible in the guestbook.
3. a crop suggestion like in the commentsection of blink would be coooooooool :D (probably to much to ask for the price..but well ..ya never kow huh?)
4.statistik for the pics would be cool (picturtrail has this option)i dont realy have much use of knowing how many hits an album has ..i wanna know which of my pics are most visited
5. would be cool if they would get the fotki search machine to work..i never realy get results except by members. try to search for ur own keywords..nothing ..nada ...niente..rien ...nichts ...nix ...niets ;)
Hi Napomo!!! Thanks for all your great suggestions!!! I am glad that you told me that you made a new journal entry cause I would not have known!!! (This is one of the short comings of the fotki journals that I would like to see fixed)
I think that you have some very good ideas in your entry... I don't want to overload fotki staff with more of my inquiries at the present... My suggestion is to make an inquiry to fotki staff with a consise list of changes you would like to see and if they think it will happen and when... the more brief the better... Don't overload them,,, or you may not get an answer...
