A Tribute to Peirce Behrendt "Remembering Peirce "
Dear Fotki Friends, Family Members and Others that may check this page,
I am very sad to report that Peirce
(http://members.fotki.com/Peirce/about/)
has passed away on April 3rd 2009.
I was recently contacted via email by Peirce's wife, Janet, of the news,
and she has asked me to let Peirce's friends here on Fotki know that he has passed on.
Peirce has been ill for quite awhile now fighting a courageous and exhausting
battle with certain illnesses. Now he is out of pain and discomfort and at Peace.
I was blessed last year with two trips to visit Peirce in Connecticut.
Once, in May 08 with Susi http://members.fotki.com/susi484/about/
and another trip in July 08 with Peter Molenaar http://members.fotki.com/Molenaar12/about/
Peirce was the dearest of friends both times, as he showed us some of his favorite sites...
The Danbury Railway Museum and the Southbury Public Library,
which Peirce photographed so professionally that his photos were posted in Connecticut Magazine.
We were also very fortunate to meet his wife, Janet, each time.
Peirce's wife Janet is not familiar with Fotki and so I have contacted Fotki Customer Support
(see bottom of this page for details of a 10 year Tribute membership / Thank you Fotki)
I would suspect that Pierce's Fotki Site will remain as it was left,
except for OUR future visits to continue to enjoy his many albums and years of work.
A pleasure to participate in and see wondrous new and continued commentary on Peirce's Fotki.
Our Prayers and Thoughts are With Janet now, and our Beloved and Remembered Friendship
with a true Icon... Peirce,,, a good friend to all that knew him...
Peace, Brother... you inspired me... and I will sadly miss our mutual kinship...

- 4 years 2 months agoThank you for letting me know. Peirce was a great friend. I had the honor of meeting him several years ago on one of my trips back home to CT. It turns out he lived close to where I am in FL many years ago. He and Janet were very sweet. While I am sad he is gone, at least he is no longer in pain.
- 4 years 2 months agoPeirce loved it to show me around the Danbury Railway Museum that day. He was so proud to have me as his guest.
I'm honored that he would be my host.
I remember him as a warm and open person.

- 4 years 2 months agoA fine tribute Gary. Peirce seemed to be a wonderful guy and my only regret is that we never mete eye-to-eye. Rest in peace Peirce.
