| | Lambchop's Journals Recent Comments For the last 2 days I've soaked my hair with Panteen ProV curl hydrating conditioner. My hair used to love it, but now it immediately dries up. The stuff just doesnt do it for me anymore!
Im still a huge fan of Goldwells Kerasilk conditioner and plan to get more soon, but its really pricey! I also like Tresemes (sp?) recovery conditioner. Its clear in color and its still soooo thick and moisturizing!
This morning I tried the Curls Ecstacy conditioner mixed with Ouidads Curl Quencher conditioner and that seemed to make my curls feel refreshed and bouncy.
I'll post more after I've done more conditioning research. :-D Happy Curls To Ya!! There are no words that can describe my utter appreciation for Tracee Ellis Ross!!
I did a mad search for her hair care regimen, and although I still dont know what styling products she uses, I was able to happen upon her washing techniques!!!
Sweet golden eggs I'm happy now!! LOL! So here is what I found in case anyone else wants enlightenment!

BET.com: Maintaining curly hair is almost a science. Our users are dying to know how you maintain your beautiful hair.
Tracee Ellis Ross: It's a long process; it's taken me years to figure out. Look at old pictures, look at old episodes of "Lyricist Lounge" on MTV if you have tapes, look on [Lifetime's] "The Dish," the hair was not the same. It's been a process to figure it out and it was a nightmare growing up.
BET.com: So, what exactly is your hair routine like?
TER: Once a week, usually on a Sunday, my trick is that I go to the steam room and I fill my hair up with conditioner. There's three different conditioners that I'll use, that's my deep conditioning day. I wash it once a week, sometimes twice depending on how many products we've put in my hair because if you wash it too much it gets dry. There's a really cheap product called Hair Mayonnaise, it's an organic product that you can buy at health food stores. It's a big tub and it's like a hair growth product [and] really good conditioner. Rene Furterer makes a conditioner called Karite Nourishing Conditioning Cream for dry hair ($22, 3.4 oz.). It's expensive but good, but I say that the Hair Mayonnaise is just as good and cheap.
In terms of products to get my hair curly during the week, the trick is the Denman brush, a D4 ($17) or the industrial one, it's the key to curls. [While in the shower,] wet your hair, fill it up with conditioner. I split my hair into six sections, bottom section split it in two, brush it over the shoulder, next section, brush it over the shoulder, etc. Leave the conditioner in. After I've brushed it out, I put a little more conditioner in my hair and (shaking the hair gently) I try to make the curls happen. You can see them develop at that point. Put the hair up in a clip, wash the body, do what you gotta do, rinse it out.
Lawdeeee!!! This morning I was so frustrated with my hair. I know I need to have a cut appropriate for my curls, but I'm scared that my length will be destroyed!!
I keep going back and forth on the idea of a texturizer of some sort. Apparently it softens your hair and makes it more manageable. I'm getting tired of all the different textures - the back is much tighter than the top and front, and it's soooo THICK!!!! It's driving me CRAZY!!!!
I suppose my biggest issue is that I need a nice professional look at work. I work in a corporate office and I'm used to looking somewhat polished (straight hair). I really feel like I look sort of messy in my hair styles because I cant get the styles together, or my hair to cooperate!!! Because I'm in constant meetings and conferences I represent my company, and need to look the part.
I guess what I'm saying is that I'm super frustrated at my hair and it's many textures and the complexity of styling it. I dont have a clue what I'm doing and I'm really considering chemicals...but maybe first I'll get some sort of braids. I had a friend who had cornrows and they looked good on her even in a suit. Maybe..... - - - Chops~
