How cool is that, keeping in touch all the time! I am not allowed when on holiday...my Peter hates it but deep down I'd love to post everything I shoot the same day! LOL I just found out there is a great exhibition on Australia in Holland...I will try and go! Should be cool, for others interested, this is the link: http://www.australietentoonstelling.nl/e/index.html
Yeah, this journal thing is a great idea. Thanks Gary!! I know what you mean about posting on the spot, it's slower with dial up but it saves me a bunch of work when I get home. I find if I don't process the photos straight away I end up with too many on my hard drive and then I don't get around to it. What does "tentoonselling" mean?
Ya,,, the journal certainly adds another dimension... and it's pretty fast to keep it up to date... Video's from dial-up however... Gosh............ wait till you get home... Have fun!!! Gary
I left the the file uploading in the motel while we did our thing, but the dial up couldn't hack it, so I'll do it at home, it'll only take a few minutes on broadband. I agree with you about finding good spots in the bush, nature has a way of restoring your soul eh.
Hey....you are on holiday already!!!!!!!!! How cool! I did not realise....the album says February 2007...???? Have a great time, enjoy and take lots of pics for us to enjoy!
Alright smarty pants, I made a mistake! I can't edit albuns on my fotki though (for over 6 months now, fotki don't know why) so I'm stuck with it, I'll try and live up to the fotki tag and take 7,000 photos like Gary !!!
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You even know precisely WHAT restaurants you guys are dinning at!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Holy, Organization,, Batman,,, Yur 2 much!!! (Maybe Alex should scheduld some more shopping though '-)
The miniture village sounds really cool,,, I'm sure that your suggestion of posting a shot or two when you get home is a HUGE understatement!!!
Can't wait to see your pix!!! This is gonna be great!!! Ohhhhhhhhhhhhh,,, I hope that you have time with yur busy schedule to take pix '-) I don't see that scheduled in '-)
The aquarium in Sydney is awesome... Especially the tunnel under the big aquarium where you can look up and see the sharks in action and all the other wonderfull sea life they have there...
And I wanna really good picture of the Opera House!!! (was bad weather when I was there plus I broke my knee on Frasier Island and was hobbling by then) /// consequently couldn't climb up the bridge '-( slippery when wet and not a good idea with a broken knee and only an ace bandage '-) But maybe you can IF TIME ALLOWS '-)
Sent me a link to the next journal update!!! Don't forget!!! Have a wonderfull time!!!
This is gonna be AWESOME!!! Good for you!!! Gary
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!! I'm so excited!!!!!4-ya!!! PS,,, nice going on the Journal Entry... PS2,, if you notify with this link,,, http://journals.fotki.com/Pedro23/CanberraSydneyHoliday/entry/wbgqrdwwtts/ people can see the comments right away in case they forget to check that??? Just a thought '-)
Gary, thanks for the heads up re the journal url syntax. OK I'll take a good shot of the Opera House. We're actually doing three cruises on Sydney Harbour (we love them) so we're bound to get one good shot for you! We haven't been to the Aquarium for a while, and they've had some real upgrading, so we're looking forward to that.
FYI Fraser Island doesn't have an "I" in it!! (Frasier)
We know Canberra and Sydney pretty well, so we do know the layout already which is the big difference say with your adventures when you're checking places out for the first time.
Gary...I am a bit worried about Peter....what to do when a restaurant turns out to be closed???? I think he should have an emergency schedule too...just in case something happens...this way it is far too much of an adventure! What do you think???? and he also forgot to decide on what to eat and drink... And poor Alex...sent away all the time to shop for his food and stuff...it is a real shame....ROFL
Viv, firstly to address the Alex issue, as a woman yourself, you would understand that there's no greater joy in life after having snagged your dream man, than to spend the rest of your life pampering him?! Who am I to argue with these deep philosophies?!?
Regards knowing what to eat and drink, I've pretty much got that nailed too. I love the 280 gm rib eye steak at the Sizzler restaurants (well done of course).
On the MV 2000 Dinner Cruise it'll be mezze plate and breads to start, followed by Grilled eye fillet of beef on mushrooms with layered dauphinoise potatoes, julienne pimento sauce merlot for mains, and Mandarin almond cake with lime bavarois & berries drizzled with cointreau for dessert.
For the Seafood Buffet Cruise we'll try the fresh local seafood including Sydney Rock Oysters and fish of the day, combined with hot rare roast beef, marinated chicken and superb garden fresh salads, crusty bread rolls, fresh fruit platters, Australian cheeses and coffee.
For the Tower Restaurant I'm leaning towards these:
Garlic prawns, Salt & pepper squid for starters, Cooked ocean king prawns, Fresh cooked blue swimmer crab, river trout w ginger, chilli & shallots, roast emu & kangaroo and Grilled ½ shell scallops w chilli & coriander for mains (not neccessarily in that order :-) )
We'll probably settle for the Passion fruit cheesecake and pavlova for dessert, washed down with copious quantities of Mugaccino.
I'm a little concerned though, I haven't worked out what to have for supper on day four?! Any suggestions??!!
Peter, if I were you I might skip supper! You probably will be charged double by then already for occupying two seats each! LOL No seriously, that sounds terrific!
ask my husband...I am not easily impressed! :) But hey...good to hear you have to pick one or two...already knew that but I thought it was kinda funny! I had a friend who could never decide what to order and one day he went to a chinese restaurant and he sat there thinking...in the end he just ordered every single dish on the menu!!! and that is not a joke...it really happened! Chinese restaurants have very extensive menus...No need to say he made lots of friends that evening (everybody ate for free!:) but we never took him serious again!
Funny,,, Viviane!!! I agree... But I bet our boy Peter has got a few tricks up his sleeve... He has a plan for a plan '-)
Geeeeeee... I could use his help in Northern Europe... The only thing I have planned is giving out a few T-shirts and popping in on some friends I have there '-) (ohhhhhh,,, and drinking some wine with V) '-)Gary
Your itinerary sounds great, just the kind of thing Bob and I would do...... I would love to see Sydney, you don't plan to climb the Bridge..... I know lots of people who have done that and they say it is awesome.....if I get there before my body has totally fallen apart I would give it a go!!! Have a great time, both of you. Bob and I are off to Poland on Saturday with the walkers group, a coachload of us, staying at Zakopane for a week and the rest of the time in Krakow...... Bob and I are very much looking forward to a total change of scene.....Have a great holiday and take lots of pictures
I'm sure you'll have no problems climbing the bridge Myra. The only thing I don't like about it is that you're not allowed to take your camera, in case you drop it onto the cars going over the bridge!! Have a Krakow at that new icon, I'll have to call off the RSPCA lawyers now!
Hi Peter, Good for you mate! But hey...I think you really should organize it a bit better and plan things in advance ROFL The only downside of this is the lack of surprises! Hey...and coming from me that is a serious lack...I hate surprises! You know, this could be my holiday...not the locations etc of course but so well planned! My family sometimes laugh at/with me but they also are very thankful to find out there is a reservation made and the bed is ready when they arrive! You got my point...? OK, have fun! it sounds really cool!!! We are having our holiday in September, depending on how Peters mum is doing we might stay away for a month this time. We did not plan much yet as the last few years always something happens and we have to cancel bits! We have never been to Spain before and this year we are going to Picos de Europe National Park area! and a bit further...check it out: http://www.asturiaspicosdeeuropa.com/ Oh...I am so much looking forward to all the holiday pics of fotki friends!!!! :)
Hey Viv, ditto. I want to cram as much as I can into every day of my life and am often bagged out for trying to do too much, but I'd rather burn out than rust out! I find I get much better value by researching ahead of time, as opposed to just rocking up and hoping for the best. In many cases if you don't book well ahead you just miss out!
Spain eh, sounds great, ole!! You go to ze bullfight, no, senorita?!
No bullfights for me Peter...no way! And hey, I used to be like you...trying to do too much and wearing everybody out...but now with my health I cannot anymore and I think my family is secretly not sad about that at all! ROFL I will try and visit some old chapels, monasterias...I will do some research for my next cookbook ((:) always a good excuse!)in restaurants and by cooking with fantastic local products, and do some winetasting. Maybe I will have to buy wine for home too as Gary might drink all my carefully chosen old ones!!! LOL But above all I am going to enjoy nature and take loads of pictures! Green...brown....well, Ireland is green! The part of Spain we are going to seems to be more green than other parts I guess...it is not that hot as the rest of Spain and that is very important for me.
Viviane!!! I have a big "Vid" style smile from your first paragraph here... "
But hey...I think you really should organize it a bit better and plan things in advance ROFL The only downside of this is the lack of surprises!" ---> That's great!!!
Once a Liar, always a Liar ....I don't believe you now! I think you are going to try and eat all that food! I will check with your lady after you got back! ;) And hey Myra...size has nothing to do with food...if so, how come I am very wide but also very low! ???? LOL I should at least have grown both ways!
Looks as if you are going to have a great time. I don't know how you are going to eat all that food. Will you be able to get into your car? You are so organized. Rhona and I go away tomorrow and we haven't got a clue as to where we are going except to Cornwall and the Eden Project. Have a great time? Irene
Hi Irene, I love your sheep. We're not really going to eat all that food, I've just listed the a la carte menu. Have fun in Cornwall & Eden? Sounds interesting.
Yes, it is this Sunday, tomorrow we leave, we're really excited, hope we can sleep!! No, no new plans, we might go to the Questacon in Canberra depending on the weather. It's a science fair and very interesting. I've made two albums - preparation and packing - just like the master!! ;-)
