You really dont need rollers but you do need water and drying time. You can spritz with water and set but styles last longer if you do them with freshly washed or rinsed locs when they are damp. Careful though, the more styling you do, the less frizzy or fuzzy locs youll have. If you start losing to much fuzz, cut back on the styling.
Twists
- Take a handful of locs. Depending on your loc size you may have 2 locs or 22.
- Split them in half.
- Twist the 2 parts from root to ends.
- Secure, if necessary, with a rubber band. If you double over the ends a bit (1/4th inch) before securing, you'll have curled ends instead of having them straight.
Knots
- Take a handful of locs.
- Optionally make twists.
- Make a knot as you would with thread or a rope.
Bantu
- Take a handful of locs.
- Optionally make twists.
- From the root down make a 1 inch loop (more or less).
- Wrap the remaining ends around the loop and tuck under.
- Secure with a rubber band or a hairpin, if necessary.
Doubled Up Knots or Bantus (Good for long locs.)
- Take a handful of locs.
- Optionally make twists.
- Double the width (shorten the length) by putting the tips to the roots.
- Make a knot or Bantu out of what you have left.
Combination
Depending on what you have time to do and the look you want to achieve:
