~Putting them in:
* my hair had already been blown out so i just started braiding before washing it.
* i braided about 2-3in of my hair and left the rest free. i did this in case some of it unraveled when i washed it.
* i didn't use any product as i braided
* each section was fairly small---i'd say between 1/4 and 1/3 of an inch each.
* I began in the front and made my way to the back so that styling would be easier if i didn't finish all at once (which i didn't, it took me about a week because i was in the middle of summer school)
* when i finished, i shampooed and conditioned my hair and then added cantu shea butter
* i used fote aloe vera gel when i wanted more curl and less frizz but i usually wore it up in a ponytail.
*** I loved this style so much. It was hassle-free and it took minimum to no effort to style. I woke up in the morening, shook my head, and went to class. It did take some time getting used to the small braids. For some reason i was nervous that one would break off in the front and leave me with a bald patch. I had a couple of nightmares about that (LOL)!!! I didn't redo any of them. I had to rebraid the ones near by sideburns because the would slip out like 5 seconds after i'd braid it but other than that i had no slippage. the best thing about these braids was the breezy-ness and the lightness.
~ The take-down (dun dun duuuun):
* This was actually not bad at all. I used a spray bottle with water and suave conditioner mixed together.
* i soaked 4 or 5 braids at one time and then detangled the ends, i used a b rush to loosen up the braids and then one by one i picked the rest apart with my fingers.
* after a while i got tired and just picked the entire braid without using the brush to loosen it up.
*** overall, this was a long and tedious process. i can't remember how long it took because i had a wedding to be in and graduation so i put twists on top of the ones that were not out yet. there were a few knots but it was nothing that couldn't be combed out. i think i shed less hair than i do when i wear extensions. my hair grew a good half an inch overall in a month.
