I brought my Magnum in because the accelerator was sticking. They did diagnostic testing and said they had to order a warranty part. Meantime I told them everything I have done to the car after market. They called me the next day to tell me the JET performace chip I put in the car failed, it voided my warranty and I would have to pay the $525. Its against federal law for a dealer to void a warranty due to after market parts. They claimed it took the "certified" mechanic over 8 hours to figure out this problem because he didnt know about the chip. I guess he didnt pay attention when I told him it existed in the car. They never called to tell me they were getting into labor not covered by warranty and never asked if they should continue. They admitted they should have done this but refused to give me the car unless I paid $525. So now I get to disupte this with my cc company. I also called Chrysler corporate to get them involved, because the service dept referred me to them. When I told them the story they said they would not help because the dispute was with the labor performed and because it was an independant franchisee I was on my own. The service department knew this is what I would be told when they told me to call. Chrysler also admitted that they needed to call before going ahead with the labor, and I should not be charged, but still would not help me. So everyone knows they are wrong, but I am out $525. Never go to this service department, they tell you one thing and do another, and then hold your car hostage until they can steal your money. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

After driving what amounts to 2-300 ish miles across the state just to look at the car (with intent to buy that day), they worked with me when I couldn't get the credit union to A. Cut a check and fax a copy, or B. Transfer funds electronically. Basically, we agreed on a price and my trade in, but there was NO way I was driving home 300 miles and driving back for the car. So they actually wrote 2 contracts, one with my credit union funding it, and one with me getting approval for a loan through their bank of choice. After I was approved, they let me take the car home that night, I went to the CU the following business day and got the check and Fed-Ex'd it to them. Then then mailed back all the torn up pieces of the contract with their bank, as well as a new RD-108 showing my CU as lein holder. They didn't have to do that, but they did. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------K & M Northfield Dodge4100 PLAINFIELD AVE NEGRAND RAPIDS, MI 49525-1682Phone: (616) 363-9011Overall Rating 2Rated by MrMopar (Rating 2) I purchased my last 5 vehicles from this dealership but this is the first one I've purchased from a different sales person as my normal sales person left this dealership to deal strictly with old muscle cars and parts for them. The Good: They allowed me to have the car for a week as a test drive because I was a long time customer. The Bad: While this dealership used to have the best service dep't in the area, I can no longer say this. The car I bought was a factory buy-back and thus carried a 12 month unlimited mileage bumper-to-bumper zero deduction warranty. Anytime I tried to even get this dealership to look at the car for something I was treated like I was a complete inconvenience. They were supposed to replace the power steering pump at one point but I highly doubt that they did so as they only had the car in the bay for 5 minutes and they turned me loose. Of course the whining was still present. They refused to flash any systems for any issues I was having (shifting problems and rough idle) even though it was covered under warranty. They wouldn't even do it if I paid out of pocket! With a previous vehicle ('95 Ram 4x4, 5.2L, 5-spd manual) I brought it in for a loud grinding noise that I could hear through the floor and feel through both the shift lever and the transfer case shift lever. I diagnosed it as a transfer case issue (sound went away when tx case was put into low range) but wanted a pro to check it out before I dropped the coin. They supposedly had their top trans tech look at it and diagnose it as a bad tranny. I purchased a used tranny (only 2 were available in the US at the time) and installed it. The noise persisted. I approached the dealership with this info and they stated that because they did not charge me for the diagnosis, they could not be held responsisble for it. I approached the guy I purchased it from and he helped me out. All I was asking for was the cost difference between the tranny and transfer case ($300) as I convinced the salvage yard I got the trans from to take mine back as it was a lower mileage trans and had no issues (I just didn't want to swap it back again) and I'd pay the difference for the transfer case. Even though the owner of this dealership refused to pay the money, my sales person and the service manager agreed to split the cost between their two dept's behind the owners back. While this was nice they wouldn't do any of this until I had a lawyer contact them as I was going to sue them into oblivion. Also they will not give you a courtesy vehicle under any circumstances. Long story short AVOID THIS DEALERSHIP AT ALL COSTS!! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Courtesy Dodge440-28TH STREET SEGRAND RAPIDS, MI 49508Phone: (616) 452-2143Overall Rating 5Rated by MrMopar (Rating 5)While I've never even purchased a vehicle from this dealership, when I approached them with some simple questions that K&M couldn't be bothered with, Nick Hammer (my service writer) took the time to do the leg work and call me back with an answer! From my previous experiences with K&M, this took me by complete surprise. A dealership that would not only listen to me, but actually bother to look into a few things and call me back with answers other than "you'll just have to make an app't". When I approached Nick about how much it would cost to get the computers flashed to the latest software revisions (I even provided TSB #'s and reasons) his reply was "Well it's under warranty isn't it? It won't cost you a dime." That was it! They did it. They also found a few more minor issues and either fixed them or ordered the parts and set up an appt. with me to have them fixed all at no charge. Oh, did I forget to mention that they also provided me with a courtesy vehicle! I can't say enough good about Nick Hammer and Courtesy Dodge's service department. Anything I've asked of them, they've done and then some. Granted my car was under warranty at the time. I just recently had my car in to have the sunroof checked as it won't close all the way. The trailing edge sits below flush with the roof causing a leak. While neither they nor I had time to get it fixed, they said it just needs an adjustment, bring it back in some time and we'll fix it, NO CHARGE! Maybe this type of treatment is no big deal for some, but I'm not used to it after being abused for so long from K&M Northfield Dodge.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
