Get Ready To Move Your Mouse ... Calling All Artists, Visionaries, and Eccentrics!

Fotki has graciously created a VIP Room for people with 'OCD' (Obsessive Creative Disorder *lol*) to gather and share their work in a collective "contest" format. This contest will be distinguished with its "Area 51" designation ... must be 18+ to enter, and tolerance for tasteful artistic content will be more liberal than other Fotki contests.

What I am hoping for is a calling for "creators". Not specifically just creators of "body art" .... but creators of all art. I am hoping to coax brilliant artists into the Fotki limelight, and encourage a "place to call home" for creators of art. I aspire to embrace all forms of creativity (classic style, mainstream style, and edgy styles), and hope to distinguish this pool from the snapshot crowd. I think the key difference is "planned art" versus "spectator captures". If you have prepared/planned your composition for more than 5 mins, this gathering has a chair for you !!

There are so many gifted talents within the Fotki community, and listing their names would fill pages. If you'd enjoy examples of the wide variety of art styles this contest is calling for, I would like to offer just a few names of creators whose shadows I dwell under ....

Has this contest started yet? Is this a 'sub-category' of the weekly digital shots? I seem to be not understanding the details! LOL Sorry for my ignorance... but I'm old!

Nice idea. No, great idea! I just returned from a 4 week vacation to Greece, this is the first time I heard about the 'blue ribbon' contest. Of course I'll contribute!

It is imminent ... but you may be a little premature with popcorn.

There are several cogs which must turn in a machine the size of Fotki. Watch the contest page ... it will show up there.

HAHA! I agree. I will stick my hand in you popcorn tub. HA! It seems like we are just twiddling our thumbs and waiting for the main event. I think the longer the wait, the better the outcome. Ya think? ;)

Sorry to interrupt...I have a question, and probably this the wrong place...but:
why are some of my pictures chopped off at the top when they are displayed in a slideshow? Thank you.

            •  Papa-RotzziUnited States wrote: Tuesday, August 26, 2008 6:58 AM

Looking at the warsaw albums.. my guess would be that you have your size set in properties to almost the max.. which will appear pretty large on many people's monitors which are set for a 800-600 screen resolution. The slide show uses the settings you choose in album properties.

                Thank you Robert.

hi Gary :) may be so, but explaining is not fixing the problem, is it? ;)

the response from the developers was: "please create an inquiry to our customer service with more detailed description of the problem and email a screenshot to support@fotki.com"

This is a great idea Rich! So many wonderful photography artists here at Fotki and you really do need your own special contest... I'm just a middle of the road photographer that clicks of a few good ones on rare occasion so I will stick with the snapshot crowd...lol But still I will be looking forward to this contest of the pros. Wishing you much success that your contest will work out well. One thing I do hope for is you won't make the voting for this contest the side by side photo comparison method.

LOL !! .... I don't know ANYONE who likes that side-by-side voting method. And if there was such a person, I bet they'd also like anchovies on their pizza !!
