I am turning to the fotki population for help.

Here is a question that has gone unanswered in the support area.

This is my second inquiry on what is a related topic, image size.

This one deals with confusion - what really happens to images when they are stored.

I've put some screen captures of the data which I see in my public album 'fotki question samples' at http://gentamicinman.fotki.com

A. The image 01ftp20071024.jpg shows a good example of what I mean. On the left is the list of files on my home computer. On the right is the list of files on fotki. This is the result of a listing of the ftp directories. You will note the files on the right were uploaded just this evening on 10/24. You will note also that the file sizes are not always equal. I went to the fotki album, opened the thumbnail, went to the image and requested the 'original uploaded image'. The properties information on that image agrees with the file size listed in this directory.

B. The image 02ftp20071024.jpg shows a listing for files uploaded not today, but uploaded yesterday on 10/23. You will note that all the file sizes are the same. This is the result I would expect.

C. The image 03ftp20071024.jpg shows the rest of the files in that 200611 directory also loaded on 10/23. They continue to have the same file size as the original images on my system.

D. The image 04ftp20071024.jpg shows a listing of files loaded earlier today, but unlike the files shown in "A" above, these files all loaded at the same size.

I've since tried reloading some individual images to get the correct size images stored on fotki - and so far this evening I have not had success.

I now have hours of past ftp/computer work now subject to fairly intense review and comparison and I am extremely frustrated.

I do expect to get the same results each time I perform a task. I simply do not understand what is happening.

This problem is much more than the explanation offered on the HELP screens, where the size difference is explained as a limitation of 'free' vs 'premium' membership. All this work has been done as a premium member - and I await your response.

I noticed the images mentioned in this memo did upload at the correct size - which is good, as you should be able to read them.
