****NATURAL 2 YR's Journals
I had my hair cut to 1 inch all around in december 2005.....and I really loved the hairstyle because it was low maintance but then six months later I decided to grow out my hair to a longer length because I really do like olng hair....I have joined the blackhairmedia discussion chat board and have met a lot of wonderful people that have shared their experiences in healthy maintance of their hair...which I want to do very much...people such as lovya4ever has been a wonderful in giving out her methods and tips for women of color to have success in keeping up their hair..
Keep the hair ends hidden 12/13/2006
I am now in the lets keep the hair ends hidden away.I am using bobby pins and decoprative clips to keep the hair in place. I am wearing it in a french roll twist modern version . the top crown I wear it puff up and pinned to hide the ends. I apply tcb light gel conditioner and the spray ApHOGEE spray, they work wonders in keeping the ends moisterize thus preventing split ends, and breakage.
I joined a lets keep our ends hidden away with Phoenix1017 and 54 other blackhairmedia members and fotki members as well hidding our ends through cronrows, wigs, scarves, buns, and various forms of french roll styles....keep the ends hidden from family members, co-workers etc never letting the hair down for a minute.
I am having some real challenges now with my hair. I am trying to think of creative styles to keep the hair hidden. I am wearing two buns with the hair pulled back into a pony tail , yes I can finally put it up in a ponytail, wrap in ponytail holder with a large velvet fabric elastic ponytail cover around the hair, and section off the lower end into another ponytail with another fabric holder, so I am wearing two buns but one bun dominates the hold hair and the nape or neck section as a bun ....I hope I am explaining this right....pics will clearfy the words that I wish to express to you~all.
As we near the end of 2006 I can see that my efforts in growing my hair to waist length is tangiable especially when I joined the neck to shoulder length hair challenge and the hide your ends until x-mas challenge. I found the accumulation easy but requiring a certain amount of discipline to each it.....
We are now towards the end of March, and I am pleased with the progress of my hair. My ritual is very simple. I started washing my hair every two weeks, deep condition every two weeks with Paul Mitchell deep hydrating conditioner, and I used daily the carrot oil, olive oil, and tcb lite conditioner. I kept my hair in protective styles using clips in modify french twist...It seems to be working very well. My goal is to strive to shoulder length.,right now it is pass neck length.I do have challenges with the middle portion back of my head and growing out the layer cut. Eventually I want to have one even length....
I had 1&1/2" cut off frommy hair, it was growing from a layer cut and I think that I must have damage the ends from pressing during my post 12 week it was uneven. The hair did reach the top of my shoulders......I had my niece even the hair in the back and trim the sides....I am now happy, I will keep with my regimen except no flat iron, or pressing from any kind in my 12 week period. The wrapping, protective styles and low maintence of use of combs amd brushes has made a difference in growth.....
I am now in my second phase of development..of Cathy Howse Challenge March 08....I really experience fast growth in the last 12 weeks... following the 2 x shampooing, and DC with UHB or alternate with Homemade protein conditioner using 2 eggs, pepperment oil, evoo oil, and protein conditioner...my hair luvs this....in addition using the crudoleum oil/rinse for thickness and shine...has given me great results...I also used the protein treatments...once a month and scalp treatments aplly 2x a month......along with moisturizing with gold care free curl and wave nouveau great to use morning and nite....I kept my hair up 99% of the time and I stop using the brush.......
I major cut in crown area 2 & 1/2 " and the rest just 1/4 or less...overall my hair is healthy but I made a mistake and used a small teeth comb in my stretching phase of growth....it will grow back I am not worried.....I want to see how fast I can grow it in 4 months time.....strive to SL full...
I am now heading towards longer hair whopppeee.. My hair is finally reaching pass NL, and the sides are much longer closer to my chin...My bangs reach the eyebrows and I can wear my hair back more easily now...I did not trim or cut for the pass 5 months....It was hard. I washed it every 3rd day and conditioned it with Amla, turmeric powders. I even used fenugreek seeds which I boiled, and blended in a blender til it was pastey. The seeds are good for promoting hair growth, shine, and thickness. I love it The only thing is that I have to rinse, rinse ,rinse and rinse so more to get the seeds out my my hair. I always used a heated cap on my hair for 20 minutes.....During the 5 months I never use heated applicances except for blowdyer during my 4 and 1/2 month towards the 5 th month that was when I saw extensive growth....I also used my Dominican products which became my favorite stables.....I will continue with this routine because it is soo simple and I am seeing really good results....
