I've taken out my kinky twist after 1 year. I'm trying to limit heat and hair combing. This will be a challenge because I have never done this before. I added a new product called jane carter solution hair nourishing cream.
12/23/08 Today I utilized some tips I learned from LHCF and Fotkis and I had no problems with knots and tangles.
First I took out latch hooks. Then I gently combed and brushed out hair. Next, I applied Queen Helene Cholesterol to my dry hair. I then braided my hair into medium sized plaits (I transitioned to twists as I went through the following steps). I then rinsed hair and washed it with Creme of Nature Shampoo. After washing hair I applied Aphogee protein 2 step. I then let it dry. I rinsed hair and applied balancing moisturizer and Queen Helene Cholesterol. I kept this conditioner mix in my hair for about 5 hours. I rinsed out while hair still in plaits. I applied aloe vera gel, leave in conditioner and moisturizer. After my hair air dried I applied Castor Oil to seal.
During all the steps above I would untwist hair and retwist hair so that only one medium sized section of hair would be loose at any given time as I applied products, rinsed etc.
I'm now wearing individual braids as of 9/7/08.
11/3/08 I'm in the process of removing my individuals. I hope to have them out by Thursday so I can wash, condition, protein, and then on to the next protective style.
Current style as of 11/8/08 is latch hook. It took only 2 hours to put in!
12/2/08 Since my braids are holding up very well I cancelled my 12/6 hair appointment and decided to stretch it a little longer.
12/13/08 I'm looking for ideas for my next protective style. I'm thinking about latch hook again, but I would like to try something different.
12/23/08 My hair is currently in twists.
Here are some ideas:

1/10/09 My hair is currently in twists under a wig. This year I'm eliminating direct and indirect heat. I'm using low manipulation and conditioning and moistuizing my hair daily. I'm using Ovation Cell Therapy 3 times a week.
I plan on adding OCT to my regimine by the end of December. I've been reading such rave reviews about it on LHCF.
I also want to add Castor Oil.
12/18/08 I just ordered OCT online!!

12/23/08 Bought Castor Oil from Vitamine Shoppe.
4/11/09 I'm thinking about adding carrot oil and wheat germ oil to my list of products.
I'll gradually list some movies I've enjoyed over the years.
