Cycle #5, Staging

Saw the resident Haematologist today before my chemo and discussed the CT scan I had last Monday. My scan results are encouraging, but not as good as they could be. The good news is that all the large tumours have shrunk, as have all the other affected lymph nodes, and there are no new areas of disease.

However, it is still present after 4 cycles, which is not the best result. What they don’t know is whether what they can see is residual tumours or scarring from tumours that were there but are now gone. They will scan me again after another two cycles, which will give them a better idea. I gather anything that shrinks further in that time is still-present tumour, and anything that doesn’t is likely just scarring. I'm probably going to have 4 more cycles.

Whatever, I'm ready for another 6 (or 12) weeks of toxic recreation. My last cycle was the best yet in terms of good days vs bad, so I'm hoping I'll be OK.

Arrived home from the chemo to the news that Theresa (D's niece-in-law) would be dropping in a meal for us. Just finished roast chicken and veg, and a delicious muffin/carrot cake thingy and we're watching the Super 14 with Jim and Deb, here at the moment.

Hey Ross - just returned home from Whitianga and a very sad farewell to Shannon & Matt as they commence their return back to the UK so thought I'd catch up on how you are progressing.
Am so glad to read there are no 'new areas of disease' however sorry the scan results were less than expected -hence further chemo required.

I must say, you have a very positive attitude of which I am very proud - hang in there my dearest cous and just know how much you are loved.

luv & hugs to you & Dee
    cousin Marie xx

PS: Love the pics of my 50th thnks - I might have to put in an order for a copy of all of them if poss please as I think they are the only photo's taken (even though we had 2 professional cameras in house along with 2 digitals & a video camera - amazing eh. We have a family history of good photographers and none of my lot thought to take a single photo - thems the breaks I guess)

    Hi Marie,

Prints are no problem. You can download the full resolution images from the fotki website and take the files to your local Kodak/Fuji place whatever, or you can order prints from the fotki website (which is what I do). Fotki is much cheaper - around 12c/print - you just have to wait 10 days or so for them. Be warned that some of the photos I took are not all that good.

    Love
